What is "Curb Appeal" and why is it important? Have you ever heard the saying that you only get one chance to make a first impression? The same thing is true of your house. Think about driving by or pulling up to a house. Where is your eye drawn? Is there a splash of color in the flower beds or accents of the house? Is the yard neat and tidy? The look of the house and yard from the curb is the home's curb appeal. This is always important to a home owner, but especially when trying to sell. Here are a few simple tips and tricks to increase the curb appeal of your home.

    • Freshen Up Your Front Door - Make a bold statement by painting your door. Or you can simply add some potted plants or flowers to your front porch, put out a new welcome mat, replace your light fixtures or brighten up your house numbers.

    • Focus on Your Flower Beds - Edging your beds with brick or stone pavers is a great way to help your flower beds standout and shine. Put fresh mulch and a variety of plants and flowers into your beds. Don't forget your side yard!

    • Spruce up your Garage Door - Add metal handles and hinges to make the door look like a carriage door. These only cost about $10! If your garage door doesn't already have windows you could paint on faux windows to give it a fresh, new look.
