When Ryan Ford was growing up in the Pacific Northwest, one of her favorite memories was running through empty houses — exploring rooms, imagining what they could become, and doing cartwheels in spacious living rooms. Her family was in construction and moved every few years, so she got to do this a lot. The smell of sawdust and Home Depot is what her childhood felt like. Even into adulthood, she loved the process of starting fresh in a new space.
The first time she came to Los Angeles was on a cold, rainy Tuesday in February — leaving Seattle and landing in West Hollywood, where the sky was clear, the temperature was 72 degrees, and the Fairfax farmers market had a gravel parking lot. It was adorable, and she fell in love. First with the weather, then the people, and then the old Spanish-style architecture. LA is easy to fall for — and easy to lose yourself in, too.
As a working young actress in the late ’90s, Ryan found herself lost in the fast-paced world of being liked. It was hard to build real connections when it felt like every interaction had strings attached. She noticed she only tried to get people to like her when they had something she needed — and that didn’t sit right. Gross, actually. So, she stepped away. She wanted to be free to like who she liked — to be kind with no agenda.
She started with small moves: bookkeeping. Then bigger ones: becoming a wife, a mother. Then personal assisting — one of her favorite roles — because she loved helping people get what they wanted. It was a lot of fun for her. Naturally, she began managing multi-million-dollar estates and teams of people for warm, down-to-earth clients. So what’s her next move? Real estate sales. It just makes sense.
Today, I’m starting out in the world of real estate. It’s new — and yet it feels like home. I absolutely love being of service, and you can bet the fire for helping people get what they want is still burning.
I’m running around empty houses again — and this time, I’m bringing you with me.
Let’s go.
