Hello, and welcome to my business page. My name is Brian Werckman, and I would like to tell you a little about myself. I am a native of central Minnesota. I recently turned 65 and retired from my career as an Industrial Control Systems Technician. My work history started with the US Air Force, where I was introduced to the great American Southwest. During my 8-year enlistment, 4 years in Nevada, I worked as a Jet Engine Technician and traveled all over the country supporting Fighter Pilots, teaching Russian tactics to other pilots. Most of my work was in the four corners area.
After the Air Force, I returned to Minnesota and enrolled at St. Cloud Technical College in the Instrumentation Technology program. Upon graduation, I worked on the Canadian border at the Boise Cascade paper mill, then several years later, I moved to the St. Paul area to work for the Marathon Petroleum Refinery as an Analyzer Technician. After 14 years working at the refinery, it was purchased by an East Coast corporation, and several good employees were let go, including me. After a little soul searching, my wife and I decided to look for opportunities outside of Minnesota. The most appealing was near Roswell, New Mexico, at the Holly Frontier Refinery in Artesia. We loved living in New Mexico, and I had 7 good years at the Artesia Refinery until I was ready to retire from the oil business.
We moved to Grand Junction in June 2020 amid the Covid 19 outbreak, where I began my Real Estate journey. I had secured a license as a Broker Associate and became a Certified Home Inspector through InterNACHI. My primary focus was to be a home inspector, but the market at the time was so hot that buyers were waiving home inspections, and my new business wasn’t gaining any traction. I decided to put my real estate dreams on hold and took a position at the Messer CO2 Plant here in Cortez, where I worked until I could comfortably retire.
I never gave up on my dream of working in Real Estate. I started by investing in a derelict house in Cortez on West 2nd Street. I tore down the old house, which was a center for illegal activity, and am now in the process of building a new rental house. I have retaken my Real Estate Broker exam and am looking forward to serving the public in a variety of Real Estate Transactions. Areas of professional interest include working with retirees and investors and specializing in distressed and bank-owned properties. I will always make time to meet with new customers to discuss their Real Estate needs, be available to answer questions, and work hard to meet expectations....
