My wife, Donna (an accomplished Classical Musician), and I have lived in Venice since moving here from Indiana and Michigan in 1993! I became a REALTOR® in 2005, to complement my Home Repair/Maintenance talents and business. My customers often said, “Jim, you know so many people, and you are so naturally talented at helping others, you should add Real Estate to your business.” So, I followed their advice, and am a Sales Associate in GULF SHORES REALTY, and I couldn't be happier as the Associates in this Independent Company and its Broker/Owner ABSOLUTELY LOVE OUR HOMETOWN, well beyond the Business aspect! To be in a Profession where helping folks like you with the sale of their home and/or buying a new one is almost too good to be true!!! I have always loved helping people, with or without a wallet open, and naturally, go out of my way when one is in need. I knew I was unusual in this regard but never realized why until I took a Personality Test. Lo and Behold…about 7% of the population is just like me …that's COOL! A VERY BRIEF BIOGRAPHY Youngster in Honolulu 10 miles from Pearl Harbor in 1941; Santa Ana & Newport Beach, CA for Elementary through High School, 1944 to 1956; UC-Davis BS and UW-Madison MS & Ph.D. (Agric Sciences/Entomology/Plant Pathology), 1956 to 1964; Michigan State University Professorship (Research, Teaching & Administration), 1964-1986; USDA Principal Entomologist in Carter & Reagan Administrations, Wash DC, 197980; Early Retirement in 1986!!! I experienced leadership roles and activities throughout my schooling and professional days and, apparently doing what my personality was directing, and found it personally rewarding. I also was fortunate to have 7 Summers of High School and College employment as an Apprentice Carpenter near Disneyland and developed a skill and interest in construction/remodeling/fixing which has ever since been in my ‘blood!' SALESMANSHIP STYLE I address real estate work for what it really is…a PROFESSIONAL challenge to either sell or buy a property that may represent the largest financial deal a client may ever make. So, the best effort is never too much! With that tenet in mind, I provide sellers and buyers with a detailed, yet understandable, a document of market conditions. I work with my sellers to ‘stage' their property to optimize the sale potential. Exposure of the home through detailed MLS descriptions, newsprint ads, the Internet, and frequent, well-advertised Open Houses, are the ‘backbone' of all my sales plans. My experience in the building trades really strengthens my hand in describing and showing property… and buyers tell me so! I assure you that you will be treated with courtesy, respect, and patience, and I will be with you every step of the way to the Closing Table, providing full communication and whatever assistance you may need.
