8 Easy Gifts That Anyone Will Love
With the holiday season quickly approaching, it’s easy to fall victim to the angst of present pressure. So what do you get Jan from marketing for October’s “you’ve been booed?” Or HR’s Susan for Secret Santa? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. With these simple ideas, this gift giving season will become a breeze!
1. Metal Straws:
Metal Straws are a must this gift giving season! Not only are they cute and available in multiple length sizes, widths (for boba lovers) and various colors at a low price, but they also help keep one’s plastic intake at a lower rate. Seriously, I just got a 12 pack gold set of metal straws from Amazon for only $12! The best part is that they come in three different sizes for drink options (Tall, Grande, Venti), and half of them even come with a slight bend so that your drinking becomes a breeze when you’re on the go. If metal isn’t your thing, then try the silicone or bamboo straw alternatives. Regardless of your straw preference, these babies are becoming a necessary must to have in your bag because many cities (ahem, LA) are now banning the use of plastic straws in order to save the turtles! So save a turtle, spend a little and give the gift of reusable straws this holiday season.
2. Throw Blankets:
Who doesn’t love a soft, cuddly throw blanket? Not only are they the cutest gifts to give, but they are also decorated to fit any theme of the season, from October pumpkins, to November Autumn leaves and December snow flakes. Okay, if you got your super serious boss as your Secret Santa, maybe stick to a solid color like light gray, navy blue or tan. So why choose a throw blanket as a gift? Regardless of the holiday, these babies are the epitome of “netflix and chill” and they go great with popcorn, hot chocolate and even a glass of wine. Moreover, they are also available everywhere like HomeGoods, Marshalls and Walmart at a low price, in various designs and fabrics. So what are you waiting for?
3. Glass Storage Container:
So basically a glass tupperware box for lunch. I know what you’re thinking, glass tupperware? YES. Look it may seem random, but I cannot tell you how convenient these bad boys are. Especially those with a lock top on the sides, or the ones with a glass divider to separate food or snacks. Throw one of these in with other little gifts like a coffee mug, or a stainless steel water bottle and voilà, Ben from the cubicle next door will have a perfect lunch set up for his October “you’ve been booed” gift. I recommend glass tupperware because it is easier to keep clean and it’s microwavable safe. Plus they don’t leave behind that weird red spaghetti residue that plastic tupperware always does.
4. Picture Frames:
Have you ever been down the aisle of picture frames in HomeGoods? Wow. “That’s all I have to say about that.” - Forrest Gump. The amount of variety is amazing. In reference to gifts, I would recommend a smaller picture frame, one that can be placed on a desk. They are so simple, yet chic. They also work for any occasion and they leave room for the gift recipient to personalize it by filling it with a picture that they want. But if you don’t want to hand it over blank, then just fill the frame with an inspirational quote, or a fun message thats says, “Happy Holidays!” with your name at the bottom. Simple enough, right?
5. Stainless Steel Cups:
Perhaps the simplest gift of all is the gift of stainless steel cups. The cool part is that these cups are available in a variety of shapes and designs based on the desired drink. Stainless steel cups are available as water bottles (like the über popular Hydroflask), smaller coffee cups, wine mugs and iced coffee tumblers. Needless to say that this gift would be perfect for anyone. Recently, stainless steel cups have become a fan favorite because they are able to keep the drink either hot or cold for long hours on end, thanks to the double walled steel. Perfect for a cool poolside drink on a hot day, or a hot tea for a crisp morning read. Moreover, stainless steel cups help lower the intake of plastic consumption because they are reusable and dishwasher safe! Stainless steel cups are available almost everywhere and are great for any occasion, so get ‘em while they’re hot!
6. Organization Supplies:
If you are anything like me, you get excited over all things stationery. No matter who it is, you can never have too many sticky notes, pens and paper clips. It doesn’t matter if you work in an office or from home, the gift of journals, planners and legal notepads will always come in handy. Moreover, items like decorative storage boxes make for the best gifts because they allow for the individual to use them as either a file box or storage supply. So it doesn’t really matter if you don’t know the person you got for the holiday gift exchange, play it cool and get them some awesome office supplies!
7. Charing Cords and Portable Chargers:
Technology is now a huge part of our lives. It is often said that our phones (and other technical devices) are now a permanent part of our bodies. So how can we turn that narrative into a gift? Easy, portable chargers. Portable chargers are the perfect gifts for someone on the go. The great thing about them is that you just throw them into your bag as an emergency resource, or hang them from your purse (some of them come with a hanging clip) and go. Because let’s be honest, our phones always want to die at the most inconvenient times. Plus they come in all different shapes and sizes, perfect for just about anyone. Just get your gift recipient a matching charging cord and there you have it, the gift of full battery life.
8. If All Else Fails:
Look, maybe you or someone you know are not in the mood for gift giving. Maybe you were kindly pushed into being a part of the company gift exchange by your boss, and going out of your way to look for gifts isn’t your thing. When all else fails, gift cards are the best way to go! People tend to stigmatize gift cards as impersonal or cold, but honestly who wouldn’t love a gift card to Target? You can get everything from groceries, makeup and home supplies all in one. Or you can also do Amazon, Starbucks or a Marshalls gift card. Heck, I would even settle for a Vons gift card! But it’s always important to remember that the point of gift giving is sharing the holiday cheer, so don’t put too much stress into the gift itself, just focus on the act of giving!
