IT’S FUN TO BE A HOMEOWNER... WITH CAROL (PART 1)
WHY DO A BLOG?
To discuss topics that would be of interest to homeowners and bring in our local artisans, craft people and/or experts seemed like a wonderful way to highlight what we have in Faulkner County. Having fun while learning tips and tricks from the experts.
HOW DID THEY DO THAT?? WHY CAN’T I DO THAT??
My husband’s job took us to 3 states and back to Arkansas. It was a wild and fun ride! We have purchased 9 homes, built 2, had one burn down- which leads us to the home we live in now. We lost everything in the house fire, but everyone was safe including the dogs and cat and the First Responders, and we were able to save some of the family photos.
We purchased our remodeled home in Conway and have replaced our furniture and some art which I love picking out but lack the knack to pull a room together with the finishing touches that make a house warm and cozy. So, I decided to ask local Interior Designer Lana Ellison to come do her magic. I have admired her work for some time.
I’ve had my first visit with Lana and a “workday” where I learned what would stay, what must go, furniture placement and her shopping list. Workday was fun. I asked Kelli Small- ERA TEAM Executive Broker- to come and play/work, and she agreed; she did a lot of the heavy lifting!!
Lana moved the entire room of furniture and rug into two different designs until she felt it was right. She wanted the room to welcome you in, whereas before the furniture blocked you from entering. Made sense after she said it, and the room looks amazing; it fits the style of the house which is contemporary. The arrangement is set for easy conversation and you can see the TV from every seat. It’s hard to image you can’t see the TV from every room in the house!! Husband Purchase! Lana moved two pictures from one wall and hung them behind the sofa to complete the look; she didn’t even cuss and only made one hole per picture! She is a PRO!
Check out this short video of our chat following the re-arranging process!
Lana asked me to think outside of the box; that is one thing I can do! I have one big wall that needs art and she left me homework: pick out what I want from these choices.
What would you pick?
While Lana gathers other items for my home, I wait with anticipation.
Check back to see what Lana has picked out for my house and what I choose for the wall.
