Downhill skiing can be found 20 mins from downtown up at Snowbowl and many more great slopes just 90 mins outside of town. If you like hiking in the summer, then get ready to try out snowshoeing at our many trailheads or head out to Lolo. The fairgrounds offers a great skating rink for the avid skaters and there are many hidden sledding spots all over town. Ice fishing can be found on the lakes surrounding Missoula, just a short drive away as well as just about any other winter sport you can imagine! If you have not yet witnessed Skijoring- that is another winter sport to check out. Spring and Summer in Missoula are the real months we live for. There is so much beauty to take in and so much to do that these seasons are far to short! Missoulians are always very excited when the Farmers Markets start up. There are 3 of them and they go from May to October. It's a great place to see the community, grab some of the best food you can find and stock up on fresh local produce! There are too many hiking trails to list but the classics can be found just minutes from your front door. The "M" and waterworks are so close and great to get out for a short evening hike! Biking paths and trails are all over our fair city in addition to all of the trailheads. You can fish the Clark Fork River running right through town or you can venture out onto the Bitterroot or Rock Creek. As the long hot days roll in you will see many people head down for a leisurely float on the river in a tube or a raft! Fall in Missoula is a magical season with the crisp air and vibrant colors. Griz football gets going and brings so much energy into our community. The UM campus brings so many students and so much diversity and energy to our town.
