Robert had a prolific career spanning decades and made friends in the industry from cameramen to Hollywood icons and even ran an unsuccessful bid for mayor of Burbank. One friend was Gene Autry who gave him a sapling tree as a housewarming gift,. Today the mature tree still stands and is known in the neighborhood as the Gene Autry tree. Affable and approachable friends stopped by often to visit, including Elvis Presley, who came to see him at the house. After his passing his daughter, Janet, a costumer for the studios, became the steward of the home. As the decades passed the house was expanded and now has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (including 2 large suites).
