The historical significance of this Italianate home is impressive! This residence was a meeting house for the Friends of Tecumseh [the fourth society of the Quaker denomination] as well as being an Underground Railroad station before the Civil War. The home was built by Aaron Comfort. He arrived in Tecumseh on May 16, 1840 and he died at his home on November 28, 1852. The construction enjoys balloon framing. Lightning impacted the home and because of a fire in 2002, it took one year to rebuild. The detail of the reconstruction is fabulous. The plasterer came from Traverse City! All rooms are good sized.
