1971 Montclair Modern • As modernism evolved into a new era, this 1971 Montclair split-level took form. Decades later, in 2015, it was taken to the studs and thoughtfully reimagined by Risa Boyer of Risa Boyer Architecture, an award-winning firm recognized by the AIA and featured in Dwell, Gray, Portland Monthly, and The Oregonian for its refined, yet pragmatic modernism. In collaboration with its owners, a compartmentalized time capsule was transformed into a 3,635-square-foot timeless modern domain—rich in detail and connected to its Northwest-inspired landscape. The transformation was architectural and emotional, reshaping how the home feels and supports daily life. A raised roofline created a great room at the center of the main level, where vaulted ceilings, skylights, clerestories, and generous dual-paned windows usher daylight in.
