The Michael Neil House, c. 1898. A brick Queen Anne in the Grafton Hill Historic District, individually listed on the National Register since 1982 and named repeatedly to Preservation Dayton’s Most Endangered list. 5,750 sq ft, 7 bedrooms, 6 baths, nearly a half acre, minutes from downtown, the Dayton Art Institute and the Masonic Center. Built for Michael Neil, who platted the Wolf Creek area and helped bring natural gas to the city, and sold in 1903 to Charles Seybold of the Seybold Machine Co. The firm he founded later became Harris-Seybold-Potter, whose Dayton works built the top-secret BEA/K-1 bombsight computer during WWII. Inside: seven original mantels still in place, ornamental plaster friezes, pocket doors, bay windows, and a full third floor under the rafters.
